Meta launched Threads this week. 

It’s always fun being part of a new app launch. It’s like the first day of school and everyone is just getting to know the landscape and what the place is all about. 

Threads saw over 30 million users sign up within 24 hours of launch. Which puts it on pace to be the fastest-growing social media platform. 

If you aren’t sure what Threads is, let me explain. 

Threads is an app created by Meta. They call it Threads by Instagram because it is linked to your Instagram account and is supposed to be an extension of that account. It is being called Meta’s answer to Twitter. 

When you sign up you do so through your Instagram app. You can even copy your Instagram bio with a click to your Threads account. 

You can of course create a different bio and start a whole new social media persona over there if you wish.

Because aside from importing the Instagram bio and having some other click-back features Threads feels like a completely different app with a completely different vibe. 

The app is text-based with the option to add in images/files to your posts. Which has up to 500 characters available to you which is different than Twitter’s character limit of 140. 

If you were around for chatrooms in the late 90s then you will likely LOVE Threads as it totally gives off that vibe right now. It is easy and fun. 

Let’s talk marketing strategy for Threads! 

Just kidding!! 

Listen, this app is still in its newborn phase and no one knows what they are doing.

No one knows how it works so leave your marketing strategy at the door for now and just have some fun with it. 

Most people are just using the app as a fun place to hang out and meet new people and be acquainted with some of the people on your Instagram you completely forgot about!

Did I forget to mention that you can import all of the people you follow so you can follow them on Threads? 

Threads are like the crazy after-party of a week-long convention and right now….

It is refreshing to have a space where we don’t have to be “on” all the time. 

Content creators and entrepreneurs relax kick off your shoes and have a good time. There will be time for strategy later. 

I wanted to give a big old warning out there to my readers if you see people trying to sell you their Threads framework or anything like that RUN! 

There are people who literally make money off of you thinking that they have all the answers for everything out there.

And them having a framework and strategy for Threads right now is complete and utter garbage. 

At this point, if you sign up and start using Threads you will know just as much as they do! 

If you are interested in joining the platform go ahead. Have a look around, have fun with it, and see where it takes you. 

If you are not interested in being on another new platform, then you don’t have to join. It will not make or break your digital marketing efforts if you are not on this new platform.
